My guess the betrayal has something to do with the orb the demon was holding when he asked him where MC was, at first he pretended like he was still looking for him but when he saw the orb he changed his mind and told them where he was.

I knew he was a traitor when he knew his where abouts of the 1st demon temple he found with the demon well and he came knowing exactly where he was. But i didn't expect him to turn on the demons so quickly. Maybe the demon Lord but not on the generals. not the biggest plot twist but still got me with that one.
